Morning cocktail with my Ninja

The boys wanted icecream push-ups again and since they are sick and need to stay inside, I gave them one. Dylan likes chocolate and Sam like green. They both like it on their faces but I made them put bibs on to keep it off their shirts. The couch doesn't matter. It will be tossed once the front playroom turns back into a living room again.

Summer of George
Over the years the staff in my group had grown to almost 50 extremely talented people and I have to say I miss them horribly. The web has grown a lot since we launched our first little interactive site on AOL in 1994. I would say the web may actually have a future, ya think? Change is difficult and this one has yet to fully sink in. I really considered AARP and the staff in WSO as part of the family and not showing up to work there everyday is a tough adjustment. I know the WSO’ers are going to do fine and I’m sure I will run into them at my next gig and their will always be happy hours at the chop to look forward to.
On the positive side, I have a whole bunch of time to decompress from the 60 hour work weeks and that damn blackberry buzzing on my hip at all hours of the day. I’ll also be able to spend a bunch of time with the boys this summer. Soccer classes, swim lessons and general 3 year old madness. I’ve also generated a huge list of things I need to do with this time off and have already checked a few things off. Unfortunately, the list keeps growing but I’m going to keep working at it.
You should be seeing a bunch of random blog posts for the next few months as I wander the area during business hours. I also plan on taking some photography classes to learn a little more about my camera and how to take good pictures. I’ll be sure to upload any that seem to work out. Anyhoo, I’m going to take advantage of this time and get some things done I’ve been meaning to do before I land my next gig and get sucked up into work life again. Wish me luck….

I forgot to post a link to our trip to Old Town on Sunday morning. We went to see a replica of a 17th century sailing vessel that came to town earlier in the week. It was a whole festival around the little boat. We didn't actually get on the thing because the line was way too long but we did see it and the stage where a giant ear of corn battled a tiger and some sort of wierd bird. Anyway, the
"replica" of the the pilgrims ship is on its way north with stops in Baltimore, Philly, New York, Boston and Portland. The pictures I took include some Alexandria architecture and of course the boys. Enjoy...... http://www.flickr.com/photos/homerclees/sets/72157594148575809/

We made it back here around 12:30am last night and Sam was completely out. Dylan got a cat nap during the show as you can see above so he watched Shark Tale on the way home but fell asleep right when he hit the bed. They both got up on stage again to rock to Hangin Around but Dylan was in a daze. Sam ran to Adam and got thrown in the air as a treat. I found a pick on the stage and gave it to Sam so he could do some serious air guitar but I'm not sure he got it. He did throw the pick into the audience. That's very rock star like...
Oh yes, Sam puked shortly after coming off stage and Dylan puked some more after that. I imagine there is a similar scene in the Strokes dressing room most nights.

I uploaded some photo's from today's trip to the Potomac Hunt Races in Potomac Maryland. Our friends Liz (the horse vet) and her husband Big John throw a little rail party every year. It was fun but tough chasing the boys around all afternoon but they seemed to get into the races more this year. One horse did fall jumping a fence and had to be put down. Very sad. No pictures of that horse. http://www.flickr.com/photos/homerclees/sets/72057594141422213/

These are a few shots from the birthday party at My Gym yesterday. The boys had lots of fun in the ball pit and during the bubble storm too. Lots of running around, jumping, climbing and falling down. Sam is top left and Dylan right. That's Danielle in the bottom left quadrant. She just turned 3.

Went to the chop last night and saw the crew and then went to a party at Kate's house. Good times all around and it was good to see everyone again. Kumie got me home late but we still had time to watch Capote. Interesting but not great. Anyway, the boys went to a birthday party for a classmate at a My Gym. It was insane but they seemed to enjoy it. I took a bunch of pictures and will load them soon. Nicole also has some before and after shots of her new haircut. I suppose those will go up on her blog.

Mid Week Update
The meeting also featured the “man” talking about anti gang activities in the area. I guess MS13 is roaming Huntington Avenue and the Fairfax County police are on the case. Did you know that only two officers in Fairfax County (population 1.2 million) have been killed on the job in the department’s history? And both were last week by some deranged teenager with 17 assorted weapons. Fairfax County also only averages 13 homicides a year which is the lowest rate of any area of the country with that type of population. Anyway, interesting stuff at these meetings.
Played golf with Modean yesterday and had a pretty good round. Once again the weather was perfect and the golf was free. Modean has mounds of free passes to a dozen courses in the area. It’s good to be in the sports radio business.
I’m meeting Nicole at a funeral for a friend from AARP today. John Luehrs had a heart attack on Sunday and died at 60 years old. He was a very sweet man and while he did love the Packers, we were able to find common ground. It will be a rough afternoon.

So I've posted the photos from our neighbor Wendy's wedding. They turned out ok but nothing to write home about. I have a shot of a one of the helicopters from Wendy's new husbands squadron. They did a fly over exactly at 5 when the wedding was suppose to start. It actually started at 5:45 but the boys loved the flyby. Chris is a pilot in the Marine One squadron. They fly the president around. Take a look for yourself. http://www.flickr.com/photos/homerclees/sets/72057594131534580/
I worked out this morning, had lunch with Jud and ran a bunch of errands today. I'm feeling a little blah tonight. I'm getting a haircut and having drinks with Jimmy T tomorrow. Should be fun.

Here is the long promised photos from our trip to Fort Foote last Saturday. As you will see, it was another gorgeous day for a trip to a park. We did see a really big black snake climbing up a tree that made me look around the ground a lot. I didn't know they could climb trees so now I have to look up for the slimy little buggers as well. Anyway, I'm working on the wedding pictures now and may have them up today or tomorrow. Enjoy...

We went to Fort Foote Maryland today to hike and throw rocks into the Potomac. I took a hundred pictures, some with my new lense, an 10-20 mm wide angle Signa. Anyway, I'll upload a whole group to flickr tomorrow night. We also went to Wendy's wedding this evening. Wendy lives across the street and she got married on her newly sodded front lawn. I've got 200 pictures of that event. That will be a separate flickr upload. I'm looking forward to taking a lot of pictures this summer and actually plan on figuring out how to use this expensive camera I have. More soon....

We took a short trip to the National Colonial Farm at Piscataway Park, Maryland. It's a short trip over the bridge and down Indian Head Highway. It's directly across the river from Mount Vernon and was originally set aside for a park to protect the views from GW's home. They have a colonial era farm there and we spent a few hours running around the barns, smokehouses, fields and pens looking at pigs, lambs, horses, cows, people dressed in colonial wear and plants. The boys loved it and I was pleasantly surprised at the place. Mom and Dad enjoyed seeing the great view of Mt Vernon and talking with the lady in colonial dress. I put a whole load of photos up in flickr. You can find them here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/homerclees/sets/72057594121233330/

The weather was perfect today for some early golf (6:50am), done by 11am and then some running around in the yard with the boys. Grandpa and I played golf while the boys, Grandma and Nicole went to the Alexandria Farmers Market and a flower store to buy some plants. This is Dylan lounging on the chaise on the deck.

I picked my parents up at the airport this afternoon around 4pm. I brought the boys with me and sang 99 bottles of beer on the wall all the way there. I taught them that song last night when they asked me to sing a song I learned in school. I got something out of college. My Dad, Wacky Dave and McConnell have a early tee time tomorrow. 6:45am and it's gonna be like 40 degrees but warming up fast. I'm tired and have had a few glasses of wine. I'll take some pictures of the boys this weekend and get them up here. I'm sure blurry pictures of sleazy bars in Vegas are getting old.

Back from Vegas
I don’t get it. I buy two of everything but they still find a way to argue about it. It’s been good hand with them again. My group moved floors today to our new offices. Everything went pretty well but I have a lot of boxes to unpack. Should be fun.

Rainman Sweet
The picture below is the lead singer of Rainman Suite. The last of four bands Jud and I saw at the sleezy Double Down bar. It was one nasty joint but a nice departure from all the glitz on the strip. It was a very small place but the bands were surprisingly good. The worst of the four was an all girl band called the Randies. They trey hard but were a little disconnected. Rainman Suite could be the next Green Day. I bought a cd if anyone doesn't believe me.
We got in at 3am and have beed doing a whole lot of nothing today. A little food, shopping at Tommy Bahama and hanging at the pool. I think the bachelor is having a good time.
