Mid Week Update

The blurry picture on Tuesday was the Greater Wilton Woods Citizens Association meeting at Browne Academy.  Lots of talk about the improvements at Browne and how they want to be a good neighbor (by cutting tuition 90 percent so Sam and Dylan can go there) and the new development on Sharon Chapel Road.  They are going to build 11 new homes ranging from the high 900’s to 1.2 million.  Pretty standard pricing around here these days.  It really won’t affect us much except we may see a few more cars up and down the street in 2009 when it’s all complete.

The meeting also featured the “man” talking about anti gang activities in the area.  I guess MS13 is roaming Huntington Avenue and the Fairfax County police are on the case.  Did you know that only two officers in Fairfax County (population 1.2 million) have been killed on the job in the department’s history?  And both were last week by some deranged teenager with 17 assorted weapons.  Fairfax County also only averages 13 homicides a year which is the lowest rate of any area of the country with that type of population.  Anyway, interesting stuff at these meetings.

Played golf with Modean yesterday and had a pretty good round.  Once again the weather was perfect and the golf was free.  Modean has mounds of free passes to a dozen courses in the area.  It’s good to be in the sports radio business.

I’m meeting Nicole at a funeral for a friend from AARP today.  John Luehrs had a heart attack on Sunday and died at 60 years old.  He was a very sweet man and while he did love the Packers, we were able to find common ground.  It will be a rough afternoon.
