So Dylan has a double ear infection again and not croup. He's getting more anti-biotics, which he loves but is already looking better. They are going to miss school tomorrow and it's pajamma day which is a shame. It's late and I should be sleeping. Good night.

Rainy day so we've been inside all day. Dylan has croup again and sounds like a seal. I found that the cable company's on demand service has a ton of Thomas the Train episodes and things like Bob the Builder and Sam the Fireman. We watched a bunch of those shows this morning, they took a nap and are now painting in the basement. I think it's going to be a stay in all day, day.... Got work to do. More soon.. Posted by Picasa

I downloaded the first season from itunes to my ipod today. I'm finding the video playing capabilities of this new ipod are actually quite entertaining and a nice break from all music when I'm riding the bike or on the elliptical machine. The last two days at work have been busy so it's nice to have a couple days off. It's going to be 60 again here and not very winter like. We took the boys to the gym this morning and then to a park. Not much else going on this weekend. No football, no parties, not much at all.

Scrubs

I watched the first episode of last nights Scrubs again tonight. That show is so frickin funny. If you don't watch it, start. They really need to start selling it on iTunes. Busy day tomorrow, I'm going to bed.

Here's another Sam picture. This one show that he really lines things up to get a good shot. I'll do a flickr show soon. It's already been a busy work week with a few days left. I started downloading some video podcasts to my new video ipod and find them fairly compelling. At least more so than the audio podcasts I was playing with but never listening to. Watching ABC News for the small screen is actually pretty alright. I'm also working on moving some of my DVD's to the ipod. That's a little more complicated and will require a new application. Here's another Sam photo. This time, of Dylan doing his Mick Jagger impression. I now have over 250 pictures taken by Sam and it's growing fast. I may have to do a flckr collection this week. Dylan has also starting taking a few photos with a lot of attention placed on Diesel 10 in his new Thomas movie.  Posted by Picasa

Sam the Photographer

Sam told me he wanted to take pictures today so I gave him my oldest digital camera and let him loose. He must have taken 100 shots and I've posted some interesting ones above. I watched him look around the room of the house for good subjects and actually arrange things, or move things slightly to get a better shot. He would also ask his human subjects if he could "take a picture from you" and would ask you to say "cheese" before snapping the shot.

At the top left, he took a picture looking down into a basket or something. The top right shot is a hairbrush he found in the kitchen. The waffles are his un-eaten breakfast and the older woman is a resident of a retirement home Nicole and boys went to today with their pre-school class. The airplace is his new favorite toy and the foot on the Thomas the Train bridge must have some sort of significance.

Joseph's birthday party was fun last night and Nicole and I had a nice dinner downtown beforehand. A little place on P Street called Mikato. I didn't really get any good shots at the party. I forgot I had the camera until about 15 minutes before we left. I've got a dentist appointment tomorrow morning. Good times....

Lock up your daughters the boys have new haircuts. We took Patrick's first appointment this morning and all three of us got our hair chopped. The boys are wearing their "Lock Up Your Daughters" t-shirts Aunt Julie sent from Texas. You can't see the whole shirt but this is the best I could get them to pose. It's in the 60's here again and does not feel like winter. Joseph's birthday party is tonight and I'll be sure to take some good pics of the festivities. Tomorrow is all about football. More soon. Meter Pops

This is funny and brought to my attention by Kumie in her blog. From the WSO employee who brought you tape man, we now have Meter Pops. Mark Jenkins does it again with public installations of some funky stuff. Enjoy... http://www.storker.net/meterpops.html

Day at the Park

I got outside today. We ran some errands and stopped at a park for a little outside recreation. My throat is still a little sore but I don't feel all that bad. Back to work tommorrow but it's a short week so I've got that going for me.

More School Pics

This is the chair pose for the boys. I don't know what the chair is all about but they are pretty good shots. The boys, Nicole and Linda went down to the mall again today to a couple of the museums. It's just too windy to spend any time outside and hey, let's face it, DC has the best free museums in the world and we should take advantage of them. I stayed back because I have a small sore throat and had some work to do. Going to watch March of the Penguins in a little bit. We figured the boys might like that. They loved the Penguins at the Central Park Zoo in November.

Don't forget, you can click on the images above and see a bigger version. More soon..

Football and stuff

Didn't do all that much today. Got some good sleep after the 12 hour work days on Wednesday and Thursday. Had a couple drinks with Kumie, Chris, Joe and John then came home and watched Wedding Crashers on Friday. Woke up and went to the gym this morning while Sam, Dylan, Nicole and Linda went to the Air and Space museum on the mall. The boys got new airplanes to play with there and jumped all over Mike McConnell was he and Mike Holl tried to watch the stinkin Redskins lose to the Seahawks tonight. I'm not usually a Seahawks fan but I'll cheer for anyone playing the Redskins.

Nicole and I have Monday off so we will need to find some fun stuff to do with the kids the next couple days. Should be fun. Oh yeah, I took some pictures of Baltimore last week and posted them to my Flickr account. You can find them on the right hand side of www.durpenters.org Enjoy.

A representative photo from the meeting today. Good times... Posted by Picasa

Lovely day in Baltimore and I'm going out for a walk at lunch time. I used to spend a lot of time here in the Fells Point neighborhood in my youth but wow has it changed in the past 5 years. New hotels, condos and a harbor walk has gone in and many of the run down bars are gone. I guess it has just been pushed further from downtown. Anyway, we are going to one of the restaurants I used to visit back in the day tonight. Should be good.  Posted by Picasa
Late Post

The post below was sent to blogger on Tuesday morning. Don't know why it just showed up on the blog. I'm in Baltimore all day again today. It's much nicer than yesterday with plenty of sun and highs in the 50's. I'm in meetings all day again but hope to get out and walk around a little this afternoon. Went to Scala last night for dinner in Little Italy. Good times in general and very good food. More soon...

All day meeting

In an all day meeting today and I really shouldn't be blogging but I've heard the presentation currently happening so I'll write a little.

Dylan gets so excited about seeing trains these days. I met the boys and Nicole at the Alexandria train station last night and Dylan couldn't wait to tell me about the CSX frieght train and multiple VRE's he just saw. He tries to discribe the number of engines and the types of cars so fast that he can't keep up with himself. Very cute. Sam likes trains but doesn't get as excited as Dylan.

The boys went to the doctor again yesterday and they are getting over their colds but Dylans ears are still in bad shape. He has an ear specialist appointment in a week or two. Hopefully he won't need tubes.

Gotta run

Ok, so how cute is this? The little one's first school pictures that I scanned but will buy from the company that actually took them. I have individual shots as well but I'll post them over the next few days to keep you all interested in this blog. We are going to buy four of five sheets of pictures from Lifetouch Studios, which is a Minnesota company by the way. So I don't feel bad about pirating their work.  Posted by Picasa

Christmas Photos

I was able to pull together a Christmas in Minnesota collection this morning and Kumie was kind enough to post it to my site http://www.durpenters.org/ Enjoy...

This has been a rather lazy weekend of getting things done around the house and catching up on some work. We took the boys to see the car getting washed today and they really liked that. Some park time and 4 nebulizer treatments a piece has kept us pretty busy. This will be another busy week at work. All day meeting Tuesday to Friday.

CNBC

I answered some questions about Boomers and Technology for a CNBC reporter yesterday. They are supposedly running the piece sometime today. So all you Wall Street watchers who actually know where that channel is on you cable system should look out for me. I think I gave them some good film to use and I didn't apply any make-up for the interview.

3 Days of 2006

We are already three days into 2006 and I’m exhausted.  I’m sure it will get easier soon.  The boys, Nicole and I still have various stages of sickness and work is starting off strong.  I forgot to blog about something Sam said at the park last weekend that struck me kinda funny.  He was on the baby swing at the park near our house and he commented that the swing was getting smaller.  I suggested that he may be getting bigger but he said “I don’t think so”

I guess they will have to move on the big boy swings soon because the baby swings are shrinking.

New Years Day

So the boys started the new year with a little rough housing at the park and a jam session with their new drum kit and guitar. Steve, Patty and Kumie came over last night for new years and I spent most the time in bed. I did manage to get up and have a little bubbly at mid night but I felt awful. I feel better today. The boys are still sick and Nicole still feels a little funky but I think we are all recovering. We have the day off again tomorrow and we will probably do a whole lot of nothing again.
