The Falls

Keeping cool on a hot day at Scott's Run.

A decade at Scott’s Run

Sam went to Scott's Run park yesterday with some friends to hang out in the waterfall as it heads toward the Potomac. It reminded me that we hiked that park back in 2009 and I showed this the pictures from the hike before he left. He's gotten a little bigger since he crossed on those stepping stones a decade ago.

Fun Trip

Sent from my iPhoneDylan and I are waiting for our flight home in Nashville after a great couple days in Murfreesboro. The team brought home the hardware and Dylan and I found a couple great restaurants.

Champions

A successful weekend for the Fort Hunt Warriors. They won the south rugby regional tournament by beating four teams by a combined score of 151-10. North Carolina was the toughest team but the warriors prevailed 24-0 to take home the cup. Dylan is still rehabbing his ACL repair but it didn't stop him from enjoying a great end of the season.

Team Work

While it was great that Sam got the tournament MVP award, the win was due to one of the best team play I've seen from this group all season. They were really clicking and it showed.

MVP

Team ProLook U16 won the Battle in the Bridge tournament this weekend and Sam took home the MVP award. He averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds over 4 games and had some beautiful steals and assists in the championship game. His coach was pleased and it was fun to watch for me.

Orange

The boys wore orange to school yesterday to mark their opposition to gun violence. Sam's has had that jersey since 2014 and somehow it still fits.

Water

I had a plumber come by today and replace a toilet and look at an outside faucet. The toilet has been replaced and I haven't fixed the faucet issue yet, but I didn't take the advice of the plumber who wanted to replace the whole unit for six hundred dollars when it was clearly a bib housing that could be replaced for 20 bucks. I ordered the part and will fix it this week. The plumber also wanted to replace the main house valve for six hundred bucks because it takes a little elbow grease to turn.  It's not like we are turning it on and off all that often.  I hate to think what he's doing to older customers out there that will just accept anything he says.  I don't like this plumber and he won't be back.

On Fire

Sam scored 15 and grabbed 12 rebounds in the loss to this team on Sunday. He was scoring in all sorts of ways and had a beautiful drive past 4 defenders for two near the end of the game. Team Pro Look was not connecting from three point land and that was the difference.
