Happy Halloween

Pumpkins

The boys played along and took some pictures in a pumpkin patch after a long day on the flag field. I'm sure they just wanted to go home after coaching their team to a victory and refereeing two games. The little Giants are seeded #2 in the upcoming playoffs after beating the Cardinals 19-16.

Fumble!

Dylan recovered a fumble shortly after this picture as the Marshall player being tackled coughed up the ball. Dylan gav3 the Eagles great field position early in the game.

The Hooker

The hook and ladder (or lateral) like we did when I was lateraling to Tim McIntosh in high school.

Zebras

Sometimes you get an official that wants to help determine the score of the game by calling ridiculous penalties. One official last night took back 3 Edison touchdowns and handed out a 15 yard penalty at the end of the game that gave the Titans a chance of winning. The Eagles prevailed 19-18 in a tense contest. Sam had a 90 yard touchdown on the first play of the game called back on a flag but he managed to get 60 yards on 4 receptions and provided hook and lateral on an Eagle touchdown. Dylan punted brilliantly 5 times with a nice directional punt to pin the Titans at their 10 yard line late in the game..

Fall Colors

First Check

The boys got their first official paycheck today for about 11 flag football games they refereed. Let the social security history begin.

So Serious

The boys won their game against Falls Church last night. The Jaguars at not a good team. The Eagles rolled with a 51-0 victory that got most our team in the game at some point. Dylan and Sam played a little less because we were winning by so much and coach got some of the kids in that haven't played a lot. Sam had a low key night with zero receptions and no touchdowns but did have a nice sack.

Dylan played well on offense, got some defense in and had a beautiful 50 plus yard punt. He started kicking rugby style and it's working for him..

Fort Ward

We had breakfast at the new Bob and Edith's in Huntington and the a visit to a civil war fort nearby. We got out a little bit today before getting the boys ready for the big homecoming dance.

Royalty

Dylan and Jenna being presented at the homecoming football game last night. I think they have a royal dance at tonight's party.

School Daze

Homecoming week at Edison includes a character day. The boys choose a couple of my old Halloween outfits.

Flag Boys

The boys carried the flag out to the turf on a recent Varsity Football game and are now featured on the Edison web site.  The coach asked them because he knew they would take the task seriously and not screw around.  It's a good sign the coaches see them as respectful kids.
